Jameel Asghar joined the VEON Group as Chief People Officer of Jazz in 2016, and moved to be the People Director of VEON’s HQ, based in Amsterdam in 2018. He has since held the role of Chief People Officer of VEON Ventures and was appointed to the role of Group Head of People from August 1^st, 2023.  As of August 1st, 2024, Jameel reports to Group CEO as Group Head of People and a member of the VEON Leadership Team. 

Prior to joining VEON, Jameel has gained over 20 years’ experience in leading people teams within the telecommunications and technology industry working for Ericsson & Nokia across Pakistan, The Middle East and Africa. He holds a BA in Law from the University of the Punjab, and an MBA from the COMSATS university of Islamabad. He is also a graduate of the Chief Human Resources Officer program of UPenn’s Wharton School of Business – Executive Education.
